Hey y’all! Alright so I’m going to just hop right into this thing. No time to waste! ( No really, this post is happening on company time and they’ll be hunting for me soon to get back on the floor.)
WELCOME TO THE OPEN OWL! I realize that I did things a tad bit backwards seeing as how I vented to you about crying on my couch before you even knew my name. Click here if you missed that meltdown. You’ve gotta believe me when I say I don’t usually move so fast in my relationships but I know you won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, we’re in this thing together now.
Again, thanks so much for coming! I will refer to this blog often as if it is a physical location but that’s because I really want it to feel like a space for you to visit and have a good time. There will be a separate post about the foundation for The Open Owl and the intended purpose. To hold you over here is some information about your new favorite blogger!
My name is Brittney Aneissa McClendone. Daughter of Steven and Doris McClendone. I have *counts on fingers* 5 older sisters. In order from youngest to oldest: Jasmine, Latrice, Alexandria, Lisa, Kattie. We all have different relationships with each other. We were all adopted from different families as infants by Doris and Steven. Steven died in April 2001 and Doris in August of 2015. The best people to walk the planet and losing them completely changed my life.
You guys will learn a lot about me over time so there is no need to give you a crash course and that would get boring. This paragraph is actually a second draft because when I went to proofread the first draft I fell asleep and made friends with the fly hovering over my coffee cup. Say hi Bob! So if you’re still falling asleep while reading this revised version then well um……fuck.
Question: Why is it that when someone asks you to describe yourself you become the most boring person anyone has ever met? Like I said you’ll pick up on all the boring details of my world on our journey. So for now I present to you a very well thought out list of a few things about Mac:
1. I have EXTREME emetophobia. Wondering what that is? Wikipedia (super reliable source I know) defines it as “a phobia that causes overwhelming, intense anxiety pertaining to vomiting. This specific phobia can also include subcategories of what causes the anxiety, including a fear of vomiting in public, a fear of seeing vomit, a fear of watching the action of vomiting or fear of being nauseated.” I couldn’t even put a gif up because they all resembled….ya know what let us move on.
2.I loathe tuna so much that I was the exception to my mothers rule “I cook it, you eat it.” Instead of sending me to bed hungry (usually the result of being picky) she would make me a grilled cheese sandwhich and send me on my way.
3. I am completely obsessed with owls and elephants. Their physical attributes are astounding but what they mean as symbolic creatures really draws me in as well.
4. I own an pretty nice game console collection. I have an Atari, a Playstation 1,2,3, and 4, a Wii, a Sega Dreamcast, an Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and an Xbox. I really want to get a switch and the Xbox one but priorities ya know?
5. I grew up as a devout Jehovah’s Witness and currently am disfellowshipped, a term you may understand as shunned. I was taught it is not shunning, but instead a necessary discipline, but boy do I feel SHUNNED. (Sore subject to be further discussed)
6. I refuse to watch movies with spirits and demons etc. and not because my religion did not condone such things but because I’m a little bitch. I have such an active mind I would not be able to watch that and sleep at night. Also, I live alone so fuck that!
7. One of the sexiest things a man can do for me is have the ability to engage in good , tantalizing conversation.
8. I am blind as a damn bat! I envy people who can just wake up and SEE! Between the astigmatism and paying to get my lenses shaved down I spend a fortune on glasses and contacts.
9. I love older music. Jackie Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Brian McKnight, Etta James, etc. I stan. Thanks mom!
10. I’m good people. I talk a lot and I eat more food than a human should in one sitting. I can be a tad defensive and some have called me a crazy Gemini but I think the general consensus is that I am good people and that feels good to be able to say.
Man I really didn’t think I was going to make it to ten points but there ya go. I know I am going to think of some really good ones right after I publish this. I’ll let you get back to your evening but not before I say how excited I am to be the owner of this space and thrilled to provide a good read for my visitors. Alright, it is time for me to clock out and go home. Just know this , *sings* I’m addicted to you, don’t you know that you’re toxic.” (If you don’t get it, well, again…..fuck)
